Towards attuned environmental quality objectives for nutrients in groundwater and surface watersPubliekssamenvatting
In this report the current environmental quality objectives for nitrogen and phosphorus in groundwater and surface waters are evaluated. The aim of the study was reconciliate the quality objectives for groundwater to ensure that they attune to the quality objectives for surface waters. The quality objectives for nitrogen and phosphorus species are compared with recent data on natural back ground concentrations in shallow and deep groundwater. Based on this comparison and the evaluation a proposal for new environmental quality objectives for nutrients in groundwater is presented. Suggestions for amellioration of the system are given for both groundwater and surface waters.
